Yesterday, German sportswear company, adidas launched their new trainers adidas Boost, which say will revolutionise running. Why? Due to the energy return provided by the shoes’ cushioning.
They certainly drafted in a heavy weight to promote the launch in the form of Jamaican sprinter and 100 metre World Champion Yohan Blake.
He said: ‘Often people only think about speed, but energy is the secret weapon that can set you apart from the competition.
‘An added boost of energy is what allows you to push yourself ahead of everyone else to cross that finish line first, especially in a sprint when every millisecond counts.’
Will they live up to the fanfare? It remains to be seen, although most of the shoes’ technology appears to fly in the face of today’s thinking with regards to cushioning and stability.
Still they will be guaranteed lots of column inches…they flew half the world’s press over to New York for the launch.
