If you are feeling sluggish and bloated after all those days of inactivity and overeating, one of our client’s Jan Dupree, 47 knows exactly how this feels. Or used to anyway…

2013 has been an extraordinary year for me.  It all started Boxing Day 2012, when I jumped on the scales at my in-laws,  feeling a little apprehensive having not weighed myself for a couple of years.

I was shocked as I weighed 12 stone 7 at 5ft 8inches wearing a too tight size 14.  Ten years ago, I’d been 10st 7lbs when I’d met my husband.

I had to do something but what? How do you tackle 2 stone and 2 sizes making the changes stick. I’d done so many diets, including month long detoxes which had worked but it was only temporary and it seemed harder every time I tried. And so finally, last New Year’s Eve I decided. My resolution:  I am going to be FITTER than I have ever been before in my life.
I spent New Years day searching on the internet and came across Fitbitch.  I’d heard of them but I had my reservations. ‘Would I be able to cope? Everyone would be fitter than me. What if I couldn’t do it?’
But embracing the adage, ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway,’ I signed up.
I turned up slightly nervous on a frosty January morning in Queen’s Park and I haven’t looked back since.
Camps have been challenging, fun, and inspiring beyond belief. Now, a year on I’ve lost 2 stone and 3 sizes and I’m the fittest I’ve ever been in my life.
I’ve always been a reluctant runner but during the camps and becoming part of the running club, I’ve discovered a passion for running.
I’ve reduced my 5k time from 32  to 25 minutes, I’ve run my first 10kms, 10miles and half marathon race. All with a fantastic bunch of new friends running alongside, shouting encouragement and cheering at the finish.
When I joined, I hoped I’d get fit and would lose weight. What I didnt bargain for was the amount of laughs I’d have come rain or shine or for the extraordinary women I’ve met and the new friendships I’ve made which make fitness now part of my lifestyle.
I love my new body, how energetic and bubbly I feel.
