Posted by Rachael Woolston

We’re back at Queen’s Park for the summer months, starting off with our Transform in 45 class.

Have fun while building your body

What happens in that 45 minutes? Well, that’s a secret but you can expect a mixture of exercises to help you build lean  muscle, essential to help you rebalance your hormones and metabolism, as well as transforming your shape, fun aerobic work, boxing and more. Every Monday will be different so you’ll never know quite what to expect.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never exercised before or you’re used to exercising regularly, this 45 minute class will be adjusted accordingly to give you the challenge that you need to push outside of your comfort zone which is where real transformation happens.

If we get enough interest in this session we will look at extending it to another session also.

No single session drop ins. Purchase in four week blocks, £44 although you can extend one session into the next block as long it is with prior agreement via email. This allows for holidays/appointments but does NOT cover missing class due to inclement weather . No BANK HOLIDAY CLASS.

Using fun fitness games and unique mental strategies, we’ll help you to improve your running fitness and distance without you realising that you’re even running. If you want to have a target, we can also give you that and help  you to achieve it.

The aim for every one is that in ten weeks, we will all graduate together by doing park run on Hove Prom, where you will no only run and complete it, but even feel confident to sprint to the finish line.

This class uses resistance band and body weight exercises to help you get stronger for running and is combined with short two – four minute running intervals to help you either build your distance or speed, depending on what you want to work on. Fun, inclusive, supportive this is aimed at ALL levels but would be particularly beneficial to beginners and those returning to running after injury. How to train smart for Brighton Half or a Marathon

October 14, 2016 at 5:11
Posted by Rachael Woolston

Does your training largely consist of downloading a training plan off an event site and vaguely following it just to get up to distance? Take the stress out of training and achieve better results by training smarter and thinking about it NOW

Train smart for endurance

Train smart for endurance

First off, there is nothing inherently wrong with doing the above if that’s all you can fit in, but if you really want to achieve your goal – even if that is to just reach the end smiling, then putting some thought into your training and doing it now BEFORE you start even thinking about adding running miles is essential.

Your training should include cycles, a macro, micro and mesocycles – this sounds more complicated than it is but as an essential start point, think about your overall goal – I want to run a marathon in April and get sub 4 hours/do it without getting injured/run it on 3 training sessions per week. Whatever it is, having the goal allows you then to work backwards and plan in your training to get you to that point, including putting in the races that will help you to reach that target and more importantly the FOUNDATION work that you need to put in now to build your strength.

It will also help you to take into account the changing nature of your training; it’s all very well having a set plan (which is better than not having one!) but injury, illness, busy work times all mean that you need to adapt your mesocycles to accommodate this rather than giving up on your plan entirely and winging it. Over the last eight years we’ve trained women to half marathon and marathon levels, this is where you see most people going wrong – wing it and you’ll end up with a broken wing!

Confused by all of this? To make it easy for you, right now (if doing a half marathon in Feb or a marathon in Spring) you should be entering your base training period, which means building the strength and stability, addressing any imbalances and working on your core.

We’ve created a RunStrong weekly class to help address this for more experienced runners while our Autumn Burn four week course which starts Monday 17th on Hove Lawns and Queen’s Park (and Worthing for two weeks) is aimed at total beginners who have not done much running and just need to wake up their muscles to get them working while getting to the headspace of thinking about regular training.

If you are an experienced marathon runner though and aiming for a specific race target, you may want to try our marathon mentoring service with run coach, Tara, a sub 3 hour 20 min marathon runner who lives and breathes the sport and can help you one to one, writing a plan every four to six weeks tailored specifically to where you are/how you have progressed.

If you are interested in any of these things, get in touch or book online. Happy Running!

Injury-proof your running body

September 14, 2016 at 3:21
Posted by Rachael Woolston

Is your running always halted in its tracks by injury or constant niggles? Help remove the obstacles with a course that helps you to build your stability and strength whatever level of runner you are..

img_8979-2

Over the last eight years, we have coached hundreds of women to become runners, get faster and run further so there’s not  much we don’t know about when it comes to women’s running – and motivation to run and keep going.

The biggest reason we see many women fall by the wayside when it comes to running is trying to do too much too soon. And without the correct foundations, this often ends in injury setting you back months.

Our Run Rehab course is aimed specifically at strengthening all the muscles which are essential for running to help you prevent injury and become stronger, fitter and more efficient. Over our six week course (starting Friday 16th September) we will help you build stability and balance both through core and gluteal work in a small group environment.

This course is ideal for ALL levels of runner and will help you rehab and get back to running if you are injured OR help to prevent you getting injured in the first place.

If you have only JUST started running for the fun of it, our Run Fit class may also be suitable. For those new to Fitbitch, you can try your first class of RunFit free by entering the code RFP at checkout.

RunFit, a running and conditioning class for beginners. 7pm Thursdays, Preston Park (Five weeks free with Learn to Run 5km, £7 drop in/included in outdoor season pass)

RunRehab for all levels of runners with targeted exercises to help prevent injury. 8-8.45am Hove Seafront until October and then New Fit Studio, The Level, Brighton. £60 for a six week course.

Running for Weightloss

May 13, 2016 at 9:45
Posted by Rachael Woolston

10 weeks, Friday May 13th – Friday July 17th

Early bird deal: 10% off if booked by 24th April

Become a run member and get a third off

Want to lose weight and burn fat through running? Then join us on our ten week course to help you get moving. This is for total beginners and/or lapsed exercisers and you don’t need to have any experience of running in the past, nor will we expect you to be able to run at the moment.

So, how does it work? We will provide you an eating plan as well as a one-to-one optional assessment to help set your goals and take your body statistics.

You will then come every week for a fun run workout, where you will learn techniques to help make running easier and gradually learn to build your distance and confidence.

In addition, you will be given homework to do to help you achieve your goals. This will be optional but if completed you are more likely to reach your target.

Join our Dream Challenge Triathlon Team – starts May 2nd

April 4, 2015 at 3:31
Posted by Rachael Woolston

Want to join our FREE Dream Challenge triathlon training? Don’t worry, we’ll be a little more professional than this although actually we do quite like the idea of doing this on the side of the pool before our triathlon. It will certainly give everyone a giggle…

Throughout 2015, here at Fitbitch and Hiit Squad UK, we will be getting training groups together to enter events, ranging from triathlons to cycle sportives, trail races to mountain ascents and coast to coast challenges.

We will be helping to raise money for Martlett’s Hospice along the way, with the profits from the sale of special Dream Team t-shirts, although if you have your own charity fundraising aim, that’s fine too.

First up, is the Ardingly Triathlon on Sunday May 31st, where you can train for a super sprint, sprint or the Olympic distance.

Our team training is free, and will consist of four Saturday’s leading up to the event beginning on May 2nd. You can join us for all of the Saturday’s or drop in when you can.

The training is community-led, with some of the team that took part last year, helping to guide and lead some of the training along with Fitbitch coach, Rachael.

If you would like to train with us, simply register your interest HERE and you will receive our information pack in the next week.

If you would like to read our review of the event from last year, click here.
