One of our coaches in Brighton, Kate, recently took on a Spaniel, Benny, after his owner could no longer look after him. She says it’s rejuvenated her running and no wonder.  Spaniels were originally are a type of gun dog, so they’re used to galloping around the countryside, a perfect companion if you are a runner.

All of which got us thinking, if you are really outdoorsy, lead an active, sporty life and want a dog, which breed would be best suited for you and vice versa? After all, it would be a bit of nightmare if you’re a marathon runner and ended up half way through a training run to find your dog lying down refusing to move.

Tiny but might, Tibetan Terries were originally bred and raised in monasteries 2000 years ago. They were used to herdign sheep and retrieving items that fell below the mountains, so they’re agile and love to climb.
