Get the HIIT factor

Half your workout, treble the results

Not heard of HIIT? It stands for high intensity inteval training and it is the exercise technique that could help you drop a dress size and fast track your fitness in half the time of traditional workouts.

It may sound like the stuff of dodgy fat burning adverts but HIIT has been scientifically proven  to show that it is not the duration of the workout that matters, but the effort you put into it while you’re doing it.

Which makes sense really – faced with a 30min workout you’re  more likely to be able to work harder for that time than a 60 min session.

With the correct coaching, HIIT is then perfect for beginners and the conditioned exerciser alike because its success lies in how hard you workout in that 12, 20 or even 30minute window.

Last year, exercise scientists at the University of Abertay Dundee reported that participants who were asked to sprint all out for six seconds on a bike for one minute, repeating this cycle ten times three times a week improved their fitness levels by ten percent in just two weeks.

Moreover, it appears that working out hard means you eat less calories after too.

A report in the Journal of Obesity showed that men ate only 621 calories after high intensity exericse compared to 710 after moderate exercise.

Cut your workout in half and triple the results?

It’s why we are launching our innovative new HIIT Camps this autumn, 3 x 30minute sessions per week. Each session will be different with boxing, skipping, running, kettlebells, core work and more to get you in the shape of your life.
