Whether you’re a morning or an evening runner, truth be told the summer sun is beginning to wane and darker nights and mornings are just around the corner. And while another heatwave is meant to be on the cards, I for one have been caught out in a few huge downpours (noticeably up on the South Downs with 25 of our running club last week).
But it didn’t matter because I was trialling out this Brooks running jacket.
By far the very best thing about this jacket is how light it is just 4.3ounces. To put that into perspective, that’s lighter than a pair of ski gloves or even most winter running gloves. It also packs into its own pocket which is why I happened to have it with me when the heavens opened 8miles into a 9mile off road run. I’d clipped it to my running belt and then tucked it in between my waist and the belt so I was hardly aware that it was there.
It also has a easy cinch hood which, unlike many other running jackets, keeps the hood in place so when you turn your head, you don’t find yourself looking into the side of the hood fabric.
While this is wind proof though, it is only water repllent so it won’t stand up to a long run in a constant downpour.
Perfect for autumn or spring running, or short runs where you know you’re not going to face changeable weather over many hours. Or simply to pack when you go off travelling or on holiday. I’ll be taking it with me that’s for sure.
