I don’t know about you but I LOVE getting treats through the post almost more than something gift-wrapped. It’s the surprise element that is the best of all.

And so we think this is a neat idea if you have a running buddy or partner in your life.

Feet smart for injury-free running

 Pamper your feet to stay injury-free

If you want to ensure you stay injury-free when you’re running, don’t neglect your feet.

Many people only think about stretching or foam rolling their legs, ignoring one part of the body that perhaps does more work than anything else…the feet.

Your feet are an amazing piece of human engineering, with an arch that works like a car’s suspension, absorbing the shock of hitting the pavement or trail. Perhaps when you consider the feet contain 25% of the body’s bones, it is easier to appreciate just how important they are in running and ensuring they are kept healthy to keep you running.

Great stretches for the feet include kneeling on them barefoot, and also tucking the toes underneath you as you kneel to help stretch the toes. It’s a little uncomfortable but try to stick with it and your feet will thank you for it.

For something a little bit more enjoyable but no less beneficial, try the Carnation PediRoller, £9.48 from most independent pharmacies.

A firm favourite of Fitbitch founder, Rachael, it has little groves which you roll under the foot to help break up the fascia underneath the foot. This can get ‘stuck’ which will eventually contribute to tighter calf muscles and potentially lead to plantar fascia issues.

Best of all, stick it in the freezer before you go running for a post recovery effect.
