This four week challenge will help you develop your fitness, strength and mobility with an all over focus on all the fitness systems.

It will draw upon hit methodology, which has been proved to work best for developing strength, boosting metabolism and balancing hormones in women.

And weather dependent, each session will finish with yoga and meditation for an all rounded holistic fitness session. So you can get everything you need in one session, rather than having to go to lots of different fitness studios.

Whether your goal is simply getting in shape and coming out of fitness hibernation, or an event focused goal related to running, triathlon or anything else, Spring Athletic will make you feel like an athlete.

Review: Aqua Sphere Cara Swimsuit

Nowadays more and more women are trying their hand at triathlon, which means getting the right swim suit for all those laps up and down the swimming pool…We tried out the new Cara swimsuit from swim specialist, Aqua Sphere

An Italian brand, Aqua Sphere started out producing swim googles renowned for increased peripheral vision and comfort but have since branded into swim wear for the active and triathlete.

They have a range of female swimsuits divided according to water exerciser, lap swimmer contemporary and lap swimming classic. The Cara swimsuit suits in the lap swimmer contemporary section, which appears to be for women wanting to dip their toe into triathlon training but who prefer the comfort of a more well fitting swimsuit than some of the skimpier ‘race’ swimsuits out there, which can leave many women worrying about how they’re even going to walk to the poolside let alone swim.

So, what did we think?

It is very flattering and super comfortable, without being too revealing at all because it doesn’t cut up high over the hips and it has a inbuilt shelf bust control for those women who need a bit more support. The adjustable straps looked fairly think and as the swim suit has a high back, we were initially worried it would feel restrictive when swimming freestyle but it didn’t impede our stroke too much.

For experienced swimmers or triathletes, the straps at the back and flattering fit might prove a bit of a hinderance and you may benefit more form their lap swimmer classic but if you’re new to triathlon or swimming, want to feel comfortable in the pool and out of it, this is a great swimsuit which would not look out of place on holiday or when training.

HiiT SQUAD

If you’re training for a running race, cycle event or triathlon, fitting in the necessary strength and conditioning is REALLY difficult. And so most people ignore it but you do so at your peril!

Strength and conditioning will not only IMPROVE your performance and could help make you faster, more importantly, it can help prevent injury and ensure you can carry on participating and doing the things  you love no matter what your age.

And even if you are NOT training for sport but want to get super fit and strong and lose weight but on half the time, then HIIT is your answer.

This 30 minute session incorporates interval style strength training, some with weights, some using body weight and we have time for a mobility/yoga warm down to help ensure you get your strength, aerobic and flexibility hit in one go.

Hiit SQUAD sessions are open to men and women. It is NOT suitable if you a new mum.

We meet by the cafe on The Level. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one.

High intensity interval training works because psychologically, you know it is only for a short duration so it is much easier to challenge yourself further. In just 30 minutes, you can do quadruple the effects of an hour spent plodding along on a treadmill in the gym or wandering from machine to machine wondering what to do.

Plus, when you work at such an intensity (and that means a level that is right for YOUR level) you burn more calories once you’re finished than if you had spent an hour doing moderate exercise.

The Hollywood Bodies Camp

If you want to get in shape fast and safely, then there is no better fitness plan that than that of the celebrity elite. After all, stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Moore, Charlize Theron have to get in shape not only to LOOK good on the red carpet, but to be STRONG too so that they can pull off a film role.

When Jennifer Lawrence reprised her role as Katniss, she was trained by Dr Joe Horrigon, a chiropractic sports medicine doctor who trains Hollywood’s elite.

As well as strength conditioning and athletic training including sprints, he had 24-year old Jennifer doing unconventional strength and flexibility training, such as climbing.

Meanwhile, Julianne Moore, has long stuck to thrice weekly yoga sessions. But at the age of 54, she has recognised the importance of strength training with kettlebells.

While many women mistakenly tend to avoid using weights, Moore recognises they are one of the most important components of fitness to help boost the metabolism for keeping weight down, not to mention shaping the body and balancing the hormones.

Charlize Theron, 39, meanwhile combines kettlebells with yoga, and Pilates to keep herself in shape for film roles.
