#DreamChallenger – The Incredible Shrinking Bec Taylor

Last March, 38-year old Bec Taylor won a year of Fitbitch camps with the goal of getting fit, losing weight and taking part in a series of Dream Challenges. Take a look at the transformation for yourselves…

 

Since starting with us at the beginning of March 2014, Bec has lost three stone dropping from 15st 10lbs to 12stone 9lbs. More significantly, her Body Mass Index has dropped from a clinically obese 32.6 to a healthy 25.6, while her body fat has dropped  by 10%.

We don’t think we need to total up all the inches she’s lost – the images speak from themselves.

For us at though, Fitbitch is not just about helping women like Bec achieve weight loss and a better body shape, it’s about helping women to connect to an active, fit life which they enjoy. The upshot? Exercise becomes something that is enjoyed not endured. And that creates a lifelong love affair.

To that end, we challenged Bec to take part in a Sprint Triathlon, Obstacle Race, Parkrun, 10km, and half marathon. She’s done them all and then raised the stakes herself.

In April, she runs the Brighton Marathon and in preparation for the end of her Dream Challenge year, she’s already signed up to another triathlon, a cycle sportive, Brighton to Paris bike ride…the list goes on.

Want to take part in our Dream Challenge 2014?

Whatever your size, shape, experience of exercise or current fitness level, YOU can be part of our  Dream Team in 2014.

What is our Dream Challenge all about?

In the last five years of of Fitbitch, we’ve seen time and again the amazing results that our clients achieve in body shape transformation, weight loss and fitness when they set themselves a fitness challenge.  And all without having to stress/worry or get tied up in knots about the weighing scales; your focus becomes the fitness goal and the weight melts away as you train.

But our Dream Challenge year is also about creating a community of women (and men – most of these challenges and training camps are also open to our new HIIT men campers too),  helping to motivate and inspire each other, in training for the same goal.

Worried about motivating yourselft to get out of the door and train? Not a problem when you’re part of a group of women, of ALL abilities and levels training together.

We witnessed this first hand when we had teams of 20 women training for some very challenging obstacle races in 2013, and during each and every one of our 2013 fitness camps when our new members graduated by running their first 5k Parkrun together.

Challenges work because they inspire you to be your best. And when you achieve your goal, it gives you the confidence to realise that you are capable of ANYTHING that you want to achieve, whether it’s a career goal, new relationship, weight loss or getting fit.

And finally, in being part of our Dream Challenge Year, you will be helping to raise money for one of three charities (help us to choose by voting here). Don’t worry, we will not ask you to canvas your friends and family, nor set limits on what you have to raise. All you have to do is wear one of our race vests when you do your challenge with a text number so people can donate as little as £1. Simple.

So, if you’re sitting there feeling bloated, unfit and determined to make changes that stick this 2014, why not be part of our Dream Team? You will train with like minded women, have the support of expert friendly female coaches, lose weight, get fit, have fun and raise money for a good cause too.

The Dream Challenge List

Hagloff Adventure Race North Downs, February 2nd 2014  – Level: Intermediate

Trail running, mountain biking and navigation. You will have to have a strong team dynamic for this pairs adventure race where you will navigate to as many points as possible in a five hour time limit.

You will need your own mountain bike and a working idea of navigation.

 Race entry is £35

Fitbitch Get Your Glow On 5k, February 15th – Level: Beginners

Want to finally achieve that elusive 5k? Come and train with us in our unique 4 weeks to 5k course for total beginners starting Jan 22nd at Hove seafront  and finish off by running in our exclusive Get Your Glow On (glow sticks, neon make up, etc) 5k on Hove seafront.

Brighton Half Marathon,  16th February Level Intermediate

Warrior Run,  30th March (this is also open to our new H.I.I.T Men campers) Level Beginners and beyond

This local Sussex based race is a mixture of obstacles and trail running and is suitable for all levels as you can opt to do 6k, 12 or 18k routes. This is NOT about coming first but a team event. Join any one of our upcoming fitness camps – Body Shape Transform in January or  Reboot or HIIT to ensure you’re ready to take on the challenge.

Brighton 10k, April 6th 2014, Level Beginner

Be part of the Brighton marathon without having to run 26miles! This year, they are launching their new 10k which starts and finishes in the same place so you get all the atmosphere without all that pain! Entires open Jan 15th for the race itself. BlueBell 10k Trail Run, April 27th Level Beginners and beyond

Always wanted to run trails and escape running in the city?  Join us in training for this spectacular race in Angmering, Sussex renowned for it’s beautiful carpet of bluebells at this time of year.

It is hilly but we will train you well and it will help you explore the Downs on your doorstep. Plus you get the reward of a pub lunch at the Fox And Hounds right on the finish line.

Tough Mudder, 26th April Level Intermediates

Billed as the toughest obstacle race on the planet, we trained 15 women from total beginners to our regular advanced clients for this event last year. EVERY ONE of them finished the race with a huge grin on their face.

This year, we have 15 signed up and are looking for more women (or HIIT campers) to join us. It does involve running 12miles so you need to build up endurance but it is NOT like a running race as you stop and start and can even walk.  We will be running our renowned and totally unique women’s only four week training camp to get you in shape and confident with all manner of obstacles that this race throws at you. A challenge and a half, but enormous fun!

Heroes vs Villain 5k or 10k, Hove seafront May 18th (open to our HIIT Men too)  Level Beginners and beyond

Whether you see yourself as heroine like Wonder Woman, or an evil Snow Queen, join the Fitbitch crew in racing a 5 or 10k along the seafront in this fun, heroes vs villains race.

Kamikaze Obstacle Race, May 18th, Pippingford, West Sussex (open to our HIIT Men) Level Beginners and beyond

Fancy something completely different? Then don’t miss this friendly, local natural obstacle and mud run in Sussex.

Our team of 12 women last year LOVED this run, including our total beginners who had never entered a running race much less one with mud slides and river runs. The best fun with the emphasis on sticking with your teammates. Ardingley Triathlon, June 1st Level: beginners and intermediate

If you’ve always fancied trying a tri, this is the perfect entry level, local one to try. In beautiful surroundings and with a pool swim, along with distances to suit ALL levels, this is a brilliant event.

If you don’t want to do the swim, you can even enter a duathlon,(bike and run). Choose from a super sprint (200m swim, 23k bike, 2.5k run), a sprint or ordinary distance depending on the level of  challenge. Last time we did this, there were women doing the event on bikes with shopping baskets amongst the serious tri guys with go faster helmets and more lycra than the average woman owns in her entire wardrobe.

South Downs Half Marathon, Saturday 21st June Level: intermediate to advanced

Not to be entered unless you are willing to put in the training! This hilly half marathon is challenging but rewards with spectacular scenery and a friendly atmosphere – plus you can relax at the end with a post race picnic in the spectacular Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Sussex.

Stilletoes on Wheels Girls Only MTB Race, Stanmer Park, September 6th Level: Beginners and beyond

Some of our Fitbitch crew tried this for the first time last year and loved it! Come and join for a Cinderella lap or join us in a solo or pairs race.

The ups are challenging, the downs are exhilirating and the technical aspects? Thankfully not too difficult.

This very, very welcoming, girls only MTB is the perfect entry level MTB race and it’s right on our doorstep so you can practise the trails. Choose from a one lap trial, or a two or four hour race on your own or in a relay pair.

Brighton Sprint Triathlon, Falmer Sports Centre, 14th September Level: Beginners

Always fancied trying a tri but been too scared? Or enter the June one and want to perfect your technique in this local event? Join the Fitbitch crew  for this Sprint Triathlon.

No need to worry about having to swim in the open water as it takes place in a swimming pool and you can even breaststroke if you like!

You will need a bike but there is no need to buy a specific tri or road bike – obviously, it will make you faster but if you just want to experience a triathlon this is for you. 400m swim, 28k bike, 5.5k run

Istanbul 10miles or 10k Race, November 16th Level: beginners and intermediate

Join our Girls Run the World trips to the Turkish city of Istanbul, a race unique in the world as you run from the Asian continent to Europe.

Likewise the city offers everything from the modern, art galleries and funky cocktail lounges to the old, traditional Turkish working men’s restaurant, Lokantas and history and architecture that goes back to the Romans. Ooh, and did we mention the islands you can visit too?

Santa Dash, 6th December Level: Beginners

An event NOT to be missed whatever your level as a runner. This is a 5k race that marks the beginning of the festive period with your entry including a full Santa outfit. Walk it, run it, push your baby in a buggy and do it. Fantastic fun

Mince Pie 10 miles, Sunday 7th December, Level: Intermediate

A Fitbitch race tradition, this friendly, local but hilly trail run is a must for intermediate runners who have already built their distance. But enter early as it sells out every year.

Phew! A lot of challenges but just think how much even just one of these could change how you feel about yourself? Add a few to the pot and THAT is a 2014 to be remembered!

Feeling scared? It is natural but remember, you won’t be alone. We will be there every step of the way, focus on the little steps and before you know it, you will have leapt over a huge chasm and reached the other side jubliant.
